Here's what makes Monroeville Direct Primary Care different:

  • As your dedicated family physician, I am committed to building a strong, lasting relationship with you. You won't be shuffled between different providers or staff members; it's just you and me, working together for your health. This continuity of care fosters a deeper understanding of your health history and goals.

  • I provide evidence-based care for every body, without pathologizing size. Whether you are navigating health in a larger body or are simply tired of diet culture in the exam room, my goal is to support your well-being—not a number on a scale. I offer a 'shame-free' environment with optional weight checks, appropriately sized equipment, and zero unsolicited weight-loss advice. →Learn more about my weight-inclusive philosophy.

  • Healthcare should be a partner in your recovery, not a hurdle. I provide a clinically safe harbor for individuals navigating or recovering from disordered eating. This means a trigger-free environment where I utilize blind weights (or no weights at all), avoid food moralizing, and focus on metabolic stability. I am proud to collaborate with your existing treatment team—including therapists and dietitians—to ensure your primary care supports your journey toward food neutrality and body safety. →Read more about my recovery support.

  • My practice is dedicated to providing supportive, comprehensive care for individuals across the full spectrum of human identity. I am committed to a respectful environment that honors the intersection of gender, race, ability, and body size. Every patient deserves to feel safe, seen, and fully supported in their health journey—including through life’s transitions. Here, your identity is not a barrier to care; it is the foundation upon which we build your personalized health plan.

  • I honor your autonomy. We work as partners: I provide the evidence-based medical expertise, and you provide the expertise on your own body and goals. I recognize that for many, the medical office itself has been a site of trauma—whether through weight-shaming, medical gaslighting, or identity-erasure. Every exam and conversation is conducted with this awareness. We move at your pace, and you are always in control of the physical space. My goal is to transform the clinical experience from a source of stress into a sanctuary of safety.

  • Forget long waits for appointments and frustrating phone trees. Members benefit from:

    • Prompt Appointments: Often same-day or next-business-day availability for your needs.

    • Direct Messaging: Communicate directly with me for questions, concerns, and follow-ups, with responses typically by the next business day.

  • I believe in upfront and clear costs, which is why our pricing is simple: you pay a one-time enrollment fee and then a monthly membership that covers all your visits with me.

I do not bill insurance for my services. You can still use your health insurance for external services such as: imaging studies, specialist visits, labs, and medications.

I am unable to accept Medicare enrollees at this time.

The Monroeville Direct Primary Care mission: To provide a medical home where critically appraised evidence meets radical compassion. By offering unhurried time and a judgment-free environment, I ensure every patient—especially those marginalized by traditional medicine—feels seen, heard, and empowered to lead their own health journey.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Schedule a free, virtual meet and greet with me. After the call, I will send you an enrollment link and patient agreement.

  • Direct Primary Care is a return to the roots of medicine. By moving away from the complexities of health insurance, I am able to focus entirely on you. Instead of unpredictable co-pays and rushed visits, you pay a simple monthly membership fee that covers all of your primary care services. This allows for longer appointments, direct communication, and a much deeper doctor-patient relationship.

  • Yes. While Monroeville Direct Primary Care covers your primary care needs, I recommend maintaining an insurance plan for "big" things, such as hospitalizations, surgeries, or specialist care. Think of it like your car: insurance is for the rare accident; your membership is for the expert maintenance that keeps you running smoothly.

  • Yes! I never bill your insurance for clinic visits, but you are welcome to use your insurance to pay for medications, laboratory tests, imaging and other diagnostic tests. I also complete prior authorizations on your behalf when needed.

  • Many patients successfully use their Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) to pay for their DPC membership, though the IRS rules can be nuanced. I recommend checking with your tax advisor or plan administrator to confirm.

  • In a traditional setting, you often don't know the cost of your visit until a bill arrives weeks later. With DPC, your membership fee covers all office visits (with no co-pays!) and grants you access to wholesale pricing on labs. By addressing health concerns early through direct access to me, many patients find they avoid expensive Urgent Care visits or ER trips. I trade the 'hidden costs' of insurance for a predictable, transparent monthly budget. →Learn more about costs

  • That’s the best time to build a relationship! DPC is about proactive wellness, not just reactive sick care. We use our time together to focus on prevention, mental health, and lifestyle goals. Plus, when you do get sick, you’ll have a doctor who already knows you and can see you immediately, potentially saving you a trip to an expensive Urgent Care or ER.

  • There is a one-time enrollment fee of $150 which covers the extensive 'onboarding' process—where I spend significant time reviewing your full medical history and previous records to build your personalized care plan. →See pricing

  • Transparency is a core value here. Your monthly fee covers all office visits and most in-office procedures. However, certain outside costs are handled separately to ensure you get the best price:

    • Outside Labs & Pathology: If I perform a biopsy or a pap smear, the laboratory that processes the sample will charge a fee. I work closely with local laboratories to determine these costs for you in advance so there are no surprise bills later.

    • Specialty Medications/Devices: If you need a specialized item like a Nexplanon or an IUD, you will typically purchase the device through your pharmacy (often utilizing your insurance) before it is delivered to the office for placement.

    • Wholesale Labs: For routine blood work, you have the option to pay a deeply discounted 'wholesale' rate through my office, which is often significantly cheaper than using insurance.

In every case, we will discuss any potential costs before they are incurred. You will always be in control of your healthcare spending.

  • There are no long-term contracts at Monroeville Direct Primary Care. I believe you should stay because you value the care you receive, not because of a legal obligation. You can cancel your membership at any time before your next month’s payment. My goal is to build a lasting partnership based on trust, not a binding document.

  • It means that at this practice, your weight is not a proxy for your worth or your health. I focus on health behaviors and clinical markers (like blood pressure or energy levels) rather than a number on a scale. You will never be shamed here, and your health concerns will be addressed with evidence-based diagnostics that look beyond your weight or BMI. →Learn more

  • At Monroeville DPC, your autonomy comes first. You are always welcome to decline being weighed. If a weight is medically necessary (for example, to calculate a specific medication dosage), we can discuss why it is needed and offer "blind weights" where the number is not shared or discussed unless you wish it to be. →Learn more

  • As a member, you have a direct line to me. You can reach out via secure app or phone. I respond to urgent calls within 24 hours. No call centers, no long hold times, and no "middlemen."

  • Because I maintain an intentionally small patient panel, I am able to offer excellent availability. Members can typically be seen for acute concerns within two business days.

  • Absolutely. I have designed this practice to be a refuge from the trauma and oppression often found in traditional healthcare. I am committed to providing an identity-affirming environment where every patient—including youth navigating their identity and parents managing the complexities of family life—is treated with dignity and respect.

  • All, from newborn through adulthood!

Good to know for children: I recommend vaccines but do not offer them through the office. The Allegheny County Health Department can provide vaccines for children as young as 2 months.

Good to know for adults over the age of 65: I am currently unable to accept Medicare enrollees.

  • I am able to provide pre-conception, first trimester, and postpartum care. I do not provide 2nd or 3rd trimester care or delivery support.

  • I do not round in the hospital. If you are admitted to the hospital, I will do my best to communicate with you and your care team. I will see you after your hospital stay to promote a smooth recovery.

  • Yes! I am able to see patients from any state, both in-person and via telemedicine—though patients must be physically located within Pennsylvania during the visit.
