Healthcare for Every Body

I believe that good medicine looks at the whole person. I focus on how your body works on the inside—like your heart health and energy levels—rather than just a number on a scale.

Focusing on What Matters Most

  • Better Data: I look at your blood pressure, blood sugar, and lab tests. These tell us much more about your health than your weight does.

  • Respecting Your Choices: We only check your weight if it is truly needed for your medical care (like getting the right dose of a medicine).

  • Safe and Private: If we do need a weight, you can stand facing away from the scale. I will keep the number private and only use it for your medical plan.

  • A Helpful Partner: I will never give you weight-loss advice you didn't ask for. We focus on the health goals that matter to you.

Expert Care for Recovery

I offer a safe place for people healing from eating disorders.

  • Expert Watching: I carefully check your labs and heart health to make sure your body is getting stronger.

  • Working Together: I am happy to work with your therapists and dietitians. This helps us all stay on the same page for your health.

  • A Calm Space: My office is a quiet, safe place where you won't be judged. We focus on keeping your body steady and healthy.

An Office that Fits You

Many doctors' offices use tools that are too small. I believe that is a mistake in the tools, not the person. I want you to feel safe and comfortable here. My office is still growing. Some parts of the building, like the heavy front doors, are not perfect yet. I am working hard to make this space better and easier for everyone to use. If you have any questions about the building before you visit, please ask.

  • Building accessibility: The bulding entrance has a heavy manual door without an automatic opener. There are stairs and an elevator.

  • Doorway clearances: Within the office suite - main door 34 inches, exam and consultation rooms 30 inches, restroom 28.5 inches.

  • Restrooms: The building lobby has gendered multi-user restrooms with stalls. The office has a single-occupant restroom with a grab bar near the toilet. The toilet is a low 15” height.

  • Seating: Wide waiting and exam room chairs (27 inches) with a 500 lb capacity.

  • Exam Table: Sturdy construction, 26 inches wide, has step up, 450 lb capacity.

  • Scale: Discreetly located with a 350 lb capacity.

  • Blood Pressure Cuffs: Comprehensive sizes (up to 66 cm) to ensure accuracy and comfort.

  • On the wish list: tronco-conical blood pressure cuffs!

Frequently Asked Questions About Weight-Inclusive Care

  • It means I focus on your health, not just a number on the scale.

In many doctors' offices, weight is used as a shortcut to guess if someone is healthy. But science shows us that weight doesn't tell the whole story.

    Being "weight-neutral" means:

    • Focusing on Facts: I look at the most important health data, like your blood pressure, your heart health, and your lab tests. This gives us a much clearer picture of how your body is doing.

    • Treating the Problem, Not the Size: If you have a health concern, I treat the cause of the problem using the best medical evidence. I don't just tell you to lose weight and hope the problem goes away.

    • Respecting Your Body: I believe you can make healthy changes at any size. We work together on things like moving more, sleeping better, and managing stress to help you feel your best.

  • At my office, you are always in control of your health data.

I believe that checking your weight should only happen if there is a clear medical reason for it. For most visits, we do not need to know your weight to give you great care.

Here is how we handle it:

    • The Choice is Yours: You can always say "no thank you" to the scale. It will not change how I treat you or how much I care about your health.

    • When It Matters: Sometimes, science tells us a weight is necessary—like when I need to find the exact, safe dose for a new medicine. If that happens, I will tell you why it is important so we can decide together.

    • "Blind Weights": If we do need to check your weight, you can stand on the scale facing away. I will record the number in your chart for medical safety, but I won’t say it out loud or talk about it unless you want to.

  • Yes. Modern science shows us that things like medicine, good food, sleep, and movement help these conditions. I will track your lab results and blood pressure closely to make sure you are getting the best care.

  • You are in charge of your health. If this is a goal for you, we can talk about it. I will give you the latest medical facts and help you make a plan that is safe and healthy for your whole life.

  • I believe in transparency. Many patients in larger bodies avoid going to the doctor because of the physical discomfort or embarrassment when equipment doesn't fit. I want you to know what to expect before you arrive, so you can feel confident that this space was prepared with your dignity and comfort in mind.
